2012年雑誌『POPEYE』のリニューアル号から、1年のあいだ執筆したシリーズエッセイ『風景でいよう』は、10年以上経ったいま読み返すと、それは自分の思考と実践の軸として誂えた〈文化空間学〉の源流を感じる。

連載などもったことがない自分が、毎月悩み抜き悶絶しながら書いた1000文字程度のテキストが、少なくともいまの自分にとって、大切な文章となっている。

当時の担当者である山口さんへの感謝も添えつつ、ここに転載する一連の文章を、皆さんに少しでも楽しんで頂けたら。

In 2012, following the relaunch of POPEYE magazine, I wrote a year-long series of essays titled Scenic World. Looking back on them more than a decade later, I can now see that they already contained the source of what would later become Cultural Placeology—the framework that now underpins both my thinking and my practice.

Having never written a regular column before, I struggled each month over those modest essays of around 1,000 words, wrestling with every sentence. It means a great deal to me that those texts, written through so much uncertainty, have become some of the most important pieces of writing in my own journey.

With my sincere gratitude to Yamaguchi-san, the editor who guided the series at the time, I hope you will find something to enjoy in these essays as I share them here once again.
