ロサンゼルスを拠点に活動する陶芸家。2021年より、UCLA Broad Art Centerの陶芸ラボ責任者であるShoshi Watanabeのもとで個人指導を受け、伝統的な陶芸技法、素材への理解、高温焼成について基礎から学びました。
彼の制作における中心的なテーマのひとつは、素材と土地との関係です。その探究を通して、天然の粘土層について学び、自然環境への負荷を抑えた原土の採取方法を実践するとともに、カリフォルニアの多様な地質環境から鉱物などの素材を採取し、独自の土や化粧土の制作に取り入れています。
また、群馬県に長期滞在し、伝統的な穴窯での薪焼成による作品制作にも取り組んできました。この経験を通して、土の性質や窯内の環境が焼成に与える影響、そして薪焼成特有の表情を生み出す表面の変化について、より深く理解する機会となりました。
 
A ceramic artist based in Los Angeles. He began his ceramic training in 2021 under the private mentorship of Shoshi Watanabe, head of the ceramics lab at the UCLA Broad Art Center, where he established a solid foundation in traditional techniques, material science, and high-temperature firing processes.
A central focus of his practice is the relationship between material and place. This emphasis has led him to study natural clay deposits, develop sustainable methods for harvesting wild clays, and source minerals for clay bodies and slips from the varied geological environments of California.
He has spent extended periods of time in Gunma Prefecture, producing work and firing in a traditional anagama wood kiln. This experience deepened his understanding of clay behavior, environmental influence and surface finishing techniques that shape wood-firing outcomes.
