Transferring the colors of plants that grow close at hand and the natural hues found in everyday life directly onto his work.
Kazunaga Ota
Born in 1979. Based in the mountain village of northern Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, Ota works primarily with the hides of wild deer and boar that have been culled as agricultural pests. Using seasonal plants gathered from his surroundings, he dyes the leather with patterns and colors created by nature itself, capturing the essence of the rural landscape. He actively exhibits his work across Japan at craft fairs and exhibitions.
