本展はスウェーデン出身のJon Koko （ヨン・ココ）が、2024年に開催した展覧会の続編として、新作の彫刻作品と絵画作品で構成されます。

〈人にはまだ知られていない、よい場所〉として彼が愛でる「穴場」とは、日常のなかで目にしつつも、つい見逃してしまいそうな景色、建築物や乗り物たち。それらが彼の空想を交えながら、木と和紙の「建築彫刻」や絵画に移し替えられ、新たな質感をまとったとき、その佇まいからは親しみと高揚が同時に感じられます。

日本文化をこよなく愛し、言葉を越えた感覚の共鳴を表現し続ける彼が生み出す風景は、何気ない日々の景色のなかに新たな気づきを与えてくれるでしょう。

This exhibition features new sculptural and painting works by Swedish artist Jon Koko as a continuation of the exhibition he held in 2024.

“Anaba” — a Japanese word meaning “hidden gem” — refers to places and things that are easily overlooked in our daily lives, such as certain landscapes, buildings, or vehicles. Through his imagination, Jon transforms these often unnoticed scenes into “architectural sculptures” crafted from wood and washi paper, as well as paintings. Given new textures and forms, they evoke a sense of both familiarity and quiet exhilaration.

Deeply enamored with Japanese culture, Jon’s landscapes — expressed in a language beyond words — bring fresh perspectives to the everyday, offering new insights into our surroundings.

Jon Koko（ヨン・ココ） スウェーデン出身のアーティスト、1988年生まれ、Malmö在住。2011年の初来日を機に、日本美術や建築への関心を深め、長野で木版画を学ぶなど、日本文化への造詣を深めてきた。作品は和紙や木を用いた「建築彫刻」や、空間の余白を生かした構図と淡い色調の絵画作品など、繊細で詩的な表現を追求している。

Jon Koko

Jon Koko Artist from Sweden, born in 1988, currently based in Malmö. Since his first visit to Japan in 2011, he has deepened his interest in Japanese art and architecture, even studying woodblock printing in Kyoto and Nagano, which has enriched his understanding of Japanese culture. His works encompass delicate and poetic expressions such as "architectural sculptures" using washi paper and wood, as well as paintings that make use of negative space and subtle color palettes.
