「どろどろとした土の塊を、果実が木から落ちるように落としてみたくなった。」

1997年にCOSMIC WONDERを設立した当初から、その活動とアート制作に携わってきた安田都乃。2010年に宮崎へ移住後、その地に残る縄文遺跡との出会いをきっかけに、古代の土器に関する研究を深めながら作品を制作してきました。

本展では、安田が手捻りで成形した壺や器を落下させ、野焼きで焼成した新作群を発表します。自然のはたらきに身を任せて歪んだ土器は、まるで地面に溶け込むように、あるいは動物が静かに腰を下ろすように、生々しい襞（ひだ）やしわをまといながらも、どこか浮遊感のある佇まいを湛えています。土、水、火という自然物から生まれたこの作品には、時間や重力といった理（ことわり）さえも、その襞に折り込まれているのです。

"At some point, I felt the urge to let a lump of wet clay fall—like fruit dropping from a tree."

Since founding COSMIC WONDER in 1997, Miyako Yasuda has been deeply engaged in both its activities and her own artistic practice. After relocating to Miyazaki in 2010, she encountered remnants of Jomon-era ruins in the region, which led her to explore ancient earthenware through both research and creation.

In this exhibition, Yasuda presents a new series of works in which vessels and jars, hand-shaped by her own hands, are dropped from a height and then fired in an open flame. The resulting forms, distorted by the forces of nature, seem to melt into the earth or quietly settle like resting animals. Draped in visceral folds and creases, they emanate a curious sense of levitation despite their weight. Born of earth, water, and fire, these pieces carry with them even the unseen forces of time and gravity—tucked into the very pleats of their surfaces.
