What is the visual texture of presence?
Hideki Makiguchi, born in Sapporo and currently based in Tokyo, began photographing the many 'places' that lurk in our world on a single day in 2009. Focusing on the very existence of space itself, his photographs clearly show signs of something that transcends the formality of the subject.
This is the artist's first book of photographic work, published in conjunction with the exhibition 'A Place | Appearance' at Vacant/Centre, Tokyo.
