左官職人である大橋さん(@ohashisakan)が居なければ、Centreの空間はまた違った様相になっていた筈だ。素材の探求、仕上がりの追求、止まない好奇心。つくるという行為の「全体性」のなかに漂う彼の思考に、単なる感覚的な近さを超えて、色や質感、流れる空気を含んだひとつの風景を共有したような、清々しい気持ちにさせられる。
大橋さんによってつくられた床や壁が、日常的でありながら特別な佇まいがあるのは、自然との繋がりに根ざした技術への敬意があるから。左官が太古の昔といまをつなぐ装置であり、未来の在り方のひとつを示す表現だということを、今回の協同作業で学ばせてもらった。またあれやこれやの山々話をしながら、共に思索に耽りましょう。
Big thanks to @ohashisakan, the Sakan (plasterer) master, who collaborated on the Vacant/Centre space construction. His ‘wholeness’ creativity inspired me and felt like we are sharing the same landscape with various colors and textures.
Through this process, I’ve learned that the role of a Sakan, is to bridge the ancient times and the present, guiding us a path towards the future with deep respect and connection to nature.
